I love my Chapin push spreader, but I have quite a few hard to reach areas in my yard that the spreader can't ever reach. Technically, I could just use my hands, but some of the granules I use is toxic and I don't want to touch it. I could also use a pot and spread the stuff around that way, but then the granules won't spread uniformly. This chest mounted spreader is exactly the kind of thing I needed to solve all of my problems. I was most worried about the crank handle when I bought this. It looked really flimsy. My worries were unfounded. The handle is strong and sturdy. Another thing I was worried about was the weight. I'm not as young as I used to be, so lifting heavy weights is a no-go for me. But I didn't want this thing to be so light that it can't even support the weight of the granules I was going to add. Once again, my worries were pointless. It is lightweight, but it is built compactly as to not get in your way or bump into things, and all the parts are well built and solid. Everything about this works exactly as I expected out of a Chapin product: tough, well built, and easy to use.
